i really need to figure out how to separate my content from my engine here.

i just spent about 5 white-knuckle minutes trying to rebase my feature branch

to not include the new posts I'm making.  i'll have to do it again because i'm going
to forget to switch branches before writing another one.  i guess at least now i know
i know how to rebase, so
